The Plan

August 8th - Start Taking Chantix 0.5mg once a day

August 12th – Switch to 0.5mg twice a day

August 16th - Switch to 1.0mg twice a day

Aug 16th – Stop smoking indoors, so I can start clearing out the air in my place. I live in a very windy area, so hopefully leaving the windows open through the weekend, clears out a lot of the smell.

Aug 20th – Clean and throw out all ashtrays, and any other smoking related things (thats going to be a hard one)

Aug 21st – Wake up smoke my last cigarette and never smoke again (fingers crossed) I actually didn’t smoke a cigarette on the 21st, it didn’t seem right to start my quit with one ;)

  2. Well, just do what you’ve got planned for Aug 21st and then it’s a whole new world, and, you’ll figure it out as you go along…

For me, the subsequent things involved filling up a trashcan with tissues a few times, breathing, drinking gallons of water, joining a gym, lifting weights, running, praying, meditating, reading blogs, etc.

You’ll figure out your own way.

    Good luck,
    John

  3. Looks good! I planned for a car wash inside and out for the first weekend of my quit, but I still haven’t gotten around to it. I think about it every time I get in my car ;) I didn’t smoke indoors, but if I had, I think I’d also do something like Febreeze. John is right, it will start to work itself out, but if you get stuck, John has a huge list of stuff on his blog, and in one of my Linky Loos on my blog is a post with something like 43 things to do to keep busy that Chris wrote. If you haven’t already continued to work on and add to your list of reasons you are quitting, that’s not a bad idea either because it might come in handy. Some do a goodbye letter to cigarettes, too. Having a plan is a great thing!

  4. Maggie, I don’t own a car so no need to worry about that. I’ll take a look at John’s blog and your linky loos.

  5. What about adding a reward? Something to look forward to after 24 hours smoke free…a week smoke free…a month smoke free?
